CORSICA RAID 1996

For the third edition, the island event spread its wings from Cape Corse, at Sisco marine, offering an extraordinary first stage with sea kayaking, mountain biking, canyoning, rappelling and orienteering. The Belgians and Spanish wasted no time in gaining the lead and battling it out for first place right the way through the eight stages.

After a brief look at the St Florent Gulf and an unforgettable Via Ferrata, the twenty remaining teams made it to the Tenda Ranges and Popolasca 'needles' before launching themselves into two alpine stages going from Monte Rotondo to Monte Renoso with their feet deep in snow. From Zicavo, the "escapees" sped towards Ghisonaccia for a last circuit of the western plains, which saw Asti Belgica whip in ahead of Cip Activa and the brave island home team Aiutu Corsu
