CORSICA RAID 1994

In 1994, the first Corsica Raid Aventure was traced as a large circuit around the Gulf of Ajaccio, first heading towards the extreme South over the Alta-Rocca and Bavella ranges before turning North towards Ghisoni, then returning to Ajaccio by the Vizzavona and Bastelica regions.

The 14 teams weathered a very intensive 316 km long course during which the three leaders quickly outdistanced their competitors. The home team "Corse Composites" led by the European Mountain biking champion Valérie Simonet took home the prizes. Already at this stage the difficulty of the race was surprising. The Isle of Beauty's rich potential for adventure seduced every racer. Nothing was missing: from the aridity in the Gulf of Valinco during the first days to the cool snows encountered on top of the Col de Verde. The Corsica started to form its motto: " Beautiful, extreme, unforgettable".
